“I love ‘Guitar Hero’ and I think it’s a part of pop culture. I would love to do a ‘Guitar Hero’ movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie. So that would be cool, to do a ‘Guitar Hero’ movie. ”

“It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the ‘Guitar Hero’ competition. One of these dreams-[come-true] kind of concepts.”

I’d write something sarcastically witty here, but I haven’t the strength.  Link.

I think this may be sadder than the people that obsess over the fucking game.

@Grundy: Uhhhh, then you may not want to hear how James and I talk about Rock Band. . . every day.

  3. James - Posted on 28/08/08 @ 8:54pm

I would totally see a movie about Rock Band directed by Brett Ratner.

    Guitar Hero, not so much.

James, face it. Either one would suck, no matter who directed. If Chris Nolan said this was his next project after Batman was either of these films, the collective response would be, “WTF?!?”

Take out the first was in that comment above.

Technically, the movie would be a remake of Rock star (Starring Marky Mark) except following a guitarist. Sounds pretty blase.

  7. Grundy - Posted on 30/08/08 @ 10:05pm

Not really, Rock Star was loosely based on Tim “Ripper” Owens becoming the singer for Judas Priest.

This one is about a weirdo trying to become a rock star by pretending to play a little plastic guitar. But, yeah it’s fucking dumb.

This movie would be as awesome as 1989’s “The Wizard.”

  9. Nionix - Posted on 31/08/08 @ 10:54am

No, it should really be about college kids getting stoned and playing around on a plastic guitar.

  10. Grundy - Posted on 31/08/08 @ 3:25pm

Or replace college kids with 30-year-olds (no offense Dave or James).

  11. Dave - Posted on 31/08/08 @ 6:08pm

@Grundy: None taken but my drumming on Rock Band might actually improve *if* I was stoned.

  12. Grundy - Posted on 31/08/08 @ 6:53pm

I played either it was Guitar Hero or Rock Band once (I drank 2 bottles of Crown Royale, so I don’t recall which). I think I did alright, though I ended up calling a 9-year-old a cocksucker.

    O_o. . .speechless.

  14. Grundy - Posted on 01/09/08 @ 12:23pm

    It happens.

  15. Dave - Posted on 01/09/08 @ 5:11pm

Just for clarity, was this on Xbox Live or at some Big Box store?

  16. Grundy - Posted on 01/09/08 @ 5:51pm

It was at a cousin of mines Christmas party, so I guess it was Guitar Hero because I was playing against a kid who was there.

  17. Nionix - Posted on 01/09/08 @ 10:40pm

That story got awesome really quick.

  18. Dave - Posted on 01/09/08 @ 10:46pm

Yeah, it had to have been because you can’t play head to head against someone in the same room in Rock Band. I guess since you kept it in the family it wasn’t as harsh. I’ve seen much worse on Xbox Live among strangers.

  19. Tower - Posted on 02/09/08 @ 9:11am

Rock Band directed by Uwe Boll. You know you all want it.

    BTW, James-you get my emails?

  20. Grundy - Posted on 02/09/08 @ 9:59am

Oh no, I didn’t even know the kid, I;m sure I wasn’t related to him.

It was two bottles of whiskey, I was spouting cocksucker like I was in an episode of Deadwood.

  21. Dave - Posted on 02/09/08 @ 11:14pm

So were you drunk when you wrote that comment about him being your cousin?

  22. Grundy - Posted on 03/09/08 @ 1:04pm

No, the Christmas party was at my cousins place.

  23. Dave - Posted on 03/09/08 @ 1:49pm

Okay, we’re getting into an area of this story that I really couldn’t care less about. ;-)
