Frenchman Michell Gondry, who wrote and directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (one of the best romantic comedies ever), has a new film coming out on February 22 entitled Be Kind Please Rewind. The premise of the film is fairly simple: Two rental store employees accidentally erase all the tapes in the store and proceed to recreate the films in an attempt to stay in business. From there, quirky hilarity ensues as their low-budget versions become popular enough for everyone to take notice of their skills, including the feds.

You can find the official trailer for the film here, though in the spirit of things - I prefer Gondry’s low-budget remake below. Meta-genius!

Uh, Charlie Kaufman wrote Eternal Sunshine. Gondry wrote the Science of Sleep.
