The RotCast Episode #45 – Rise of the Machine Girl
James | July 12, 2009 | 13 Comments

We take a break from the theater and check out the Japanese goresploitation film Machine Girl on DVD and NetFlix Instant-watch. And tons of other stuff. (Apologies in advance for my overdriven mic. Won’t happen again. Until the next time it happens. Also, I confused Dave Winer with Robert Scoble in the intro. Robert Scoble is not an a-hole.)

James, I can recommend Poltrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead for an actually good looking Troma film, it’s actually probably the best film the studio has made.
Oh and there’s Cannibal! The Musical, from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, it’s worth checking out if only for the drunken commentary.

Great show guys
A few notes and I’ll be back for more:
I was just teasing about the podcast sched Dave
– but the most ‘kidding on the square’ comment is really that you shouldnt go teasing to other sites that you have recorded a new show if we’re going to wait 3 to 5 days for it to be posted. Curb your excitement until there’s a prodcut, thats all
Chris Jericho left WWE in 2005, returned in late 2007 and has been there since. he is currently tag champs with Edge. He never went to TNA.
Machine Girl looks good. Almost picked it up, but instead today picked up another Japanese fucked up movie I’ve been looking forward to for a long time called Funky Forest. I’ll let you know how that goes, both Kurt and Andrew have been pushing this forever.

I will second a fondness for renting at the library. Recently watched Maltese Falcon and To Kill A Mockingbird from there, and its my go-to for the expensive Criterion releases, from the Third Man to the 6 hour version of Fanny and Alexander.
and of course, plenty of kids movies and mediocre comedies that I like more just because I didnt have to pay a cent – like Envy.

“you shouldnt go teasing to other sites that you have recorded a new show if we’re going to wait 3 to 5 days for it to be posted. Curb your excitement until there’s a prodcut, thats all”
I’ll admit to doing this on Twitter, but that’s it.

Just trust me you’ve done it on R3 a couple times

Okay, here’s a small list of films from Ghost House Pictures that I like:
The Grudge
30 Days of Night
Drag Me to Hell
Raimi only directed one of them but his “name” is attached to all three via the production company. Still doesn’t change my stance that Jackson supporting Blomkamp for District 9 is fundamentally different.

Dude, awesome. I’m gonna start listening to this now to see what you thought.
Also, Asami can be seen in another weird picture called Sukeban Boy (reviewed on my site
)

lol. I got my annual liberty names fake renewal letter just last week.

*still listening*
Dave, check the whois listing for your mom’s domain name. Usually LibertyNames just combs the whois information and sends out crap, hoping people are dumb enough to transfer their domain name to them.
try http://www.fasterwhois.com or http://www.geektools.com for instance

Meatball Machine, Tokyo Gore Police.. check those out. Same special effects artist.
Also, Machine Girl was entirely funded by Tokyo Shock, an american company

The cheerleader who robbed the wheelchair kid was a better story.

Chris, just got around to doing this. A WHOIS search for my mom’s domain reveals the address to a holding company in Fort Myers. Neither my current address nor any previous address is listed at all. I smell shenanigans.
Chris - Posted on 22/07/09 @ 7:33pm
hmm. No idea then. I guess you’re probably right about someone selling the information.
